Hello hello!
My goodness it has been A LONG time since I last wrote a blog! But here we are…
It has definitely been awhile and we’ve got some catching up to do! But, I hope you’re doing well!
Before we start, I want to give the BIGGEST shout out to Chris at the library. I was talking to him on Saturday and he said how much he enjoyed reading my blogs, which sparked motivation to write them again. So, thank you Chris!
Okay, lets dive into this weekend!
Saturday
My day started at the best place ever – Hands On Car Wash!
It had been a few weeks since I had been in and the FunChaser really needed a wash. Like badly.
So in it went, and I got to hang out with my best bud, Ripley. He was pretty excited to see me! He even climbed up on my shoulder. Nick, if you’re reading this, I won’t accidentally walk out with Ripley. I pinky swear.
Okay so after the car wash, and giving the crew there some Domino’s Pizza Coupons, I made my way down 3rd Avenue to the PG Farmer’s Market.
Because of the restrictions, it is a lot smaller than it usually is. Often, it is in the Farmer’s Market building and in Hubspace, but for now, it is only in the Farmer’s Market Building.
But, even though it is smaller than usual, there are SO MANY great finds at the Market. From farm fresh eggs, to produce, to meat, and baked goods, there is something for everyone!
I walked around, grabbed some pictures and chatted with a lot of the vendors. You could tell people were cheery and happy. Maybe it was because the weather was absolutely stunning!
I even learned how the produce is stored and stayed fresh! It’s kept in a root cellar and stays fresh during the winter!
Mind.
Blown.
After the Farmer’s Market, I quickly popped by Subaru of Prince George to drop off some Domino’s Coupons! They were pretty excited! It made me excited!
I then headed over to the Prince George Public Library to check out their Teen Art Showcase.
And WOW! This city has so many phenomenal young artists. It’s mind blowing. I really recommend you go check them out! But be quick, you only have until March 6th!
While I was there, I had an awesome conversation with Chris, one of the librarians. We talked about my job, school, the library, the city, it was great! It was an awesome conversation and I learned so much more as to what is happening at the library (which by the way, is a lot and you should totally check out their website www.pgpl.ca! There is always something going on over there for all ages). It is really cool! Chris also mentioned about how much he enjoyed reading my blogs. I don’t know what happened, but I just stopped writing them. When he said that, it reignited the spark to write them, and well, here we are!
Speaking of the library and cool things, they also have a book sale going on right now full of their old catalogue! It’s by donation, but there are tons of books to check out!
After the library, I headed back to the station to do some office FunChasing stuff. (Yes, sometimes I have to do actual office work 😣) And school work. That’s kind of important! Oh and in case you missed it, I’m a BCIT Radio Arts and Entertainment student!
I was pretty excited for the next day though. I was going to be helping out at Prince George Live! and I was PUMPED!
Sunday
The day started off at Caledonia Nordic.
Okay actually that’s kind of a lie…
My day actually started off of me wondering if I had to shovel the FunChaser out of the parking lot…
It was completely surrounded by snow!
But the Subaru is a trooper, and got through the snow and I did not need to shovel the car out #bless.
NOW my day started at Caledonia Nordic.
There was a lot of fresh snow and I knew Otway would be a great place to check out!
And it was!
I went for a quick little ski, which was a bit of a struggle because I had the signs with me, but I made it!
There were lots of people out enjoying the fresh snow and amazing weather! They have so many cool things going on right now, including the Grand Tour of Caledonia! make sure to check out Caledonia Nordic before the snow is all gone!!
I did a loop, fell only once, and then made my way back to the lodge.
I got to talk to my friend, Eri, for a bit and then I made my way back into town.
When I was in town, I stopped by the station to grab some food and then sat and ate for a little bit because ya girl needs to eat!
But while I was doing that, these people came up to me (safely) and asked me what my favourite type of pizza was!
If you missed it, I put out on social media, that if you come ask me what my favourite pizza is, I’ll give you a Domino’s Coupon. It took me by surprise, but it made my day that they knew to keep an eye out for me!
After that, I made my way over to the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum.
They have an art display from Karma Vance called “A Splash of Flora” and it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
I totally recommend you check it out. It will get you ready for spring.
The Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum is open for visitors! If you want to find out more about times and COVID-19 protocols make sure you check out their website.
I sat and spoke with Alisha for a bit too! It was nice catching up with her and finding out all of the exciting things that are in store for the museum!
I made my way back to the station to get ready to help out with Prince George Live!
It was super exciting to see how everything was being set up and how everything worked. And I made sure I got a FunChaser picture with former FunChaser and host, Kyle Sampson.
I was posting onto the Drive, The River, and the FunChaser’s Instagram stories throughout the night, giving viewers a behind the scenes look as to what was happening and had a blast. I can’t even begin to describe how cool it was to see!
The night went super well! Over $55,000 money was raised for the event, and it will be donated to the Prince George Community Foundation. And they are still collecting donations! Make sure to check it out here.
It was such a blast and I can’t wait to take part in more events like that!
I’ll see you next weekend PG! Stay safe and have fun!
Sylvia xx
P.S. The blogs will be back. I promise
