What a weekend.
Seriously.
Recently, weekends have been a little tough. Events aren’t happening, I’ve been doing a lot of trails, and it has become really really repetitive.
This weekend was different. Things were happening, people were out and about, and it was not repetitive at all.
Okay. Lets begin.
Saturday
My day started up in the Hart for the Hart Market! I was sooooo excited. I made sure I got there early because at the first market, I got there at around noon and there was only one vendor left! Everything was sold out!
So, to avoid that, I got there 20 minutes early, and I was able to get in a few minutes early to get some pictures of all of the vendors.
The vendors there, are amazing. So good! If you want to check out the Hart Market, it is happening every other Saturday from 11-2. The next one will be on July 18th!
So, who was there?
The Frozen Paddle, Doug’s Donuts, The Cookie Attic, and Ambrosia Sweets. Just to name a few; there were lots more!
I even saw Chuck Chin! It’s nice to see him out and about taking pictures of events and of nature in Prince George. I even got a picture of him!! JK I got three!
That’s a big deal because he is always able to get pictures of me at events and I never get one of him! Saturday, that all changed.
Just as I was about to leave, I grabbed some London Fog ice cream from the Frozen Paddle and then made my way down to the PG Queer Cafe Pride Car Parade.
It started to rain a lot as I was making my way down to the CN Centre. But, that did not stop the parade from happening.
PG Queer Cafe had 4 different parades happening in the city and the goal was to drive by people’s houses and honk and wave. It was pretty cool!
After the parade, I had to drop off shot glasses from Carol’s “The Daily Question” on the Drive. It was A LOT of fun. I met a few listeners and they were all excited to receive their shot glasses.
After delivering my last one, I made my way over to the Hospice Dream Home in the Nechako View Subdivision!
I was suuuuuuuper excited for so many reasons.
- It’s the Hospice Dream Home. It’s a great cause going to a great local organization
- It’s a beautiful home
- I CAN FINALLY BUY TICKETS!!!
When I got there, I was instantly greeted by David McWalter, who told me about the house and the cool things about it. THEN I saw my aunt, uncle and cousins, who were going in to see the house and THEN I saw Sandra Klimm from PG Hospice, and THEN I got to go into the home.
I was really excited. The house is beautiful and has lots of amazing accent walls, and ceilings.
You definitely want to go visit. They are open 11-6 everyday ata 3955 Larissa Court. They are only allowing 6 people in the house at a time, so there will be a line up to get into the house. But, it’s worth it.
After touring the house, I BOUGHT MY FIRST LOTTERY TICKET!!!! Wahoo!! I was very very excited, and so was everyone else!
After, I talked to Sandra for a bit and then made my way back to the station.
Saturday was a good day of Funchasing.
Sunday
There was a break in the weather. It wasn’t supposed to rain. FINALLY a day without rain.
I planned to go out to the Ancient Forest for a FunChasing adventure.
And let me tell you, it was an adventure.
The drive out to the forest was amazing. Not a lot of vehicles were on the road and I was chasing the rain clouds, thankfully not getting rained on.
One thing that I like about the Ancient Forest is that no matter the weather, it is still enjoyable. Minus the mosquitoes. You still get to see the same things if it’s rainy or sunny and if you go there in the winter, it’s a completely different adventure.
Even with the overcast and odd little sprinkle, it was still a blast.
I hadn’t been out there since the whole boardwalk was complete, so being able to walk completely on the boardwalk was pretty cool, and makes the whole park really accessible for a lot of people.
While I was there, there were LOTS of people enjoying the path as well. They have put up signs to tell you which way to go, to encourage physical distancing, which is really nice.
After spending some time at the Ancient Forest, I made my way back into town.
A highlight on the drive back? Having to stop TWICE for bears to cross the highway!
Before getting into town, I made my way to the Eastline Market in Willow River.
This market is 100% something you want to put on your to-do list for the summer. It’s every Sunday from 10-3 in front of the Community Hall. There are A LOT of great vendors who are there every weekend. I was told when I was there, that there are usually four more vendors who make their way to the town but couldn’t make it because the road washed out between them and Willow River, which sucks.
After that, I made my way back into town.
Stay tuned for next weekend and Downtown Summerfest: Take It Home!
