Well it has been a hot minute, hasn’t it?
First thing’s first. I miss everyone. And I hope you are all staying safe. I miss interacting with everyone and seeing everyone at events! Hopefully soon!
So, this past weekend was my first weekend out in exactly two months. I was SO EXCITED to get back out, so let’s begin!
Saturday
My day started *a little* later than expected, but that’s okay. After saying a quick hello to everyone who was upstairs, I got out and started my adventure for the day.
You’re probably wondering… Sylvia, what are you doing with no events to go to?
I am now, you’re local travel blogger, to tell you what trails and parks you 110% need to check out!
So, my day started at the Wilson’s Square Farmer’s Market, which is back at Wilson Square! Yahoo!
It was pretty quiet, and not a lot of vendors, but it made me smile to see vendors out and people supporting local businesses. Mr. PG and Pink Fluffy Unicorn had a great time!
Right! My friends!
So, to keep me company over the weekend, I have brought Mr. PG and Pink Fluffy Unicorn to join me on all the fun. Both are pretty important, and have special place in my heart,
After Wilson Square, I made my way over to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
It was beautiful! The sun was shining and people were enjoying the sun with their family. It was really nice to see people out and about.
I walked around, grabbed some pictures and soaked up the sun for a bit. Mr. PG and Pink Fluffy Unicorn were both enjoying the sun and the views as well!
After spending some time out in the sun, I headed back to the station.
As you know, right now, PG Hospice House is hosting the month long colour walk and are encouraging everyone to walk or run 100km throughout the month of May, either individually or with a team! So when I got back to the station, Spencer and I took some footage with the colour chalk that was going to be used for the colour walk.
We had a lot of fun playing with the chalk, especially when Spencer threw the chalk at me and then the wind blew it right back into his face. I thought it was HILARIOUS! He didn’t.
In the end, I had green all over my face and it was in my hair!
Sunday
It was Mother’s Day today! I was super excited because I love my mom and I bought her plants for the day and SHE WASN’T MAD AT ME FOR IT! Score! And I was getting Mr. Mike’s “Steak” Out for dinner so I was super duper pumped.
I started the day at LC Gunn with my two friends. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping and it was a beautiful day to go for a walk.
I’ve only been to LC Gunn Park once before, and that was like five years ago. I was pretty excited to get to walk on the cutbanks of the Fraser. And I was not disappointed!
The views were absolutely stunning, and there was enough shade while walking through the trees that I wasn’t totally dying of heat. I did however die going up on the hill that is on the middle. And that is on not doing any fitness during quarantine! But don’t worry, I made it to the top. Just a little out of breath.
I didn’t make it all the way to the other end of the park; I got, I’d say, 2/3 of the way, and then I turned around.
I will definitely be back and ready to explore the park some more! L.C. Gunn park is a great place to take your dog for a walk, go with the family or even just by yourself! The hills will make you work hard, but the stunning views of the city make it SO WORTH it!
After L.C. Gunn park, I quickly headed down to Mr. Mike’s. If you haven’t heard, they are open for curbside pickup, skip the dishes are dine-in, with social distancing, of course!
After grabbing some pictures, I went over to Ginter’s.
I love Ginter’s. The trails are awesome, there are lots of dogs, and there’s the foundation of Ben Ginter’s house on the hill, which is most definitely my favourite part.
This park is great for everyone- there’s a paved path, so it’s accessible to everyone, trails that lead up to the university and so many places to explore. If you haven’t checked Ginter’s Meadow yet, you 100% need to!
I took some pictures, enjoyed the sun, almost had a dog take Pink Fluffy Unicorn, and then made my way back to the station.
I ended the day with some “Steak” Out for Mother’s Day and we all really enjoyed out dinner!
It was super nice to be back out on the weekend FunChasing. I really missed it!
See you next weekend,
Sylvia, the FunChaser
