Hello hello!
What a weekend! It was full of fun and I never got the time to finish writing this last weekend. But last weekend deserves a blog so here it is!
First off, on Thursday, I got to meet up with Y Girl for the YMCA MEGATHON! We did a quick video to be posted on social media. It was a lot of fun and I am SUPER excited for MEGATHON on March 13th!!
Saturday
My day started out at Caledonia Nordic!
I was planning on checking out the Hot Chocolate for a Cause which was for the Children’s Development Centre here in town!
I got my skis, talked to the crew in the rental shop and then made my way to Santa’s Cabin.
On my way there, I skied by some kids who I coach in skating, and even ran into some of their parents (safely ran into them of course)!
I was able to hand out some Domino’s Coupons, chat a little, and then continued on my way to Santa’s Cabin.
I gotta say, I am pretty proud of how much my skiing has improved these past couple of months. Before Christmas, I had only gone cross-country skiing once. When I was 10. But over the weeks, I have become more comfortable with skiing and I’m pretty proud with my progress!
Okay back to the day…
When I got to Santa’s Cabin, I was shocked and surprised…
No one was there.
I was a little confused and wasn’t sure what to do, but my gut was telling me to go back to the Rotary Terrain Park.
And my gut was right.
Sure enough, when I got there, they were there!!
The park was busy too! Full of skiers having fun.
I got a hot chocolate, and chatted to the team there and learned more about the Children’s Development Centre.
They help so many families here in Prince George, it’s amazing. Well over 1000 kids a year go to the CDC for some sort of help.
While I was at Caledonia Nordic, something in the back of my head kept telling me that there was an event I should be going to. But I couldn’t figure out what it was.
When I was driving down 5th Ave, it hit me. (Well I saw it and then it hit me.)
The Tapestry Singers’ Bottle Drive!
I pulled into the parking lot and grabbed a picture. Stay tuned to what they have coming up!!
After, I went to Two Rivers Gallery.
They’re open Tuesday-Saturday and currently have three amazing exhibits on display!
The first one that I checked out was “I Miss Your Faces” by Audrey McKinnon and
WOW.
It was amazing.
Audrey had the art put up and then she painted around the canvas as well. So the painting is also on the wall, which I think is SO COOL! Her art will literally be forever a part of the gallery, which is incredible.
After, I went and checked out the “Tip of the Iceberg.”
It had many artists take part, sharing different perspective of how the earth is changing with the climate. A poem was playing in the background while you walked through the room. And then you walked into the second room and you were surrounded by darkness.
You then pass the little wall, and entered into a display that’s hanging from the floor to the ceiling. A video is playing off of the sheets that are hanging and you can walk through them. It’s like you’re involved in the video. It was really cool to just sit there and look at it.
After, I went to 7-Eleven and grabbed some Screamers because it was Prince George’s 106th birthday! Logan (Weekend host on the River) hadn’t had a Screamer before so he OBVIOUSLY had to have one!
And that’s how my Saturday ended! With a Screamer!
Sunday
I made my way over to Omineca to check out the Art Exhibit from Le Cercle des Canadiens Français de Prince George!
It was funny because the last time that they saw me, I had veryyyyyyyy short hair, so they didn’t recognize me when I walked in with my longer hair!
There was some phenomenal art on display, with some very cool stories.
Some of it will be on display at the Airport if you want to check it out one day!
I ran into my Grade 6 teacher as well, and struggled talking to her because my French has become ✨trash✨ over the past year and half. Oops!
I made my way up to Canadian Tire to visit the people selling tickets for the Spruce Kings Showhome Lottery.
I finally found where they were set up and surprise!
It was former FunChaser Cole selling tickets!
I bought some 50/50 tickets, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed I win!!🤞
There was something that I totally forgot to do last weekend…
Go by The Frozen Paddle and get their Wasabi and Cucumber ice cream.
That sounds like a weird combo, but it actually tastes really good!
I 100% recommend trying it!
After my ice cream, I started driving around town.
I had a bunch of PG Domino’s Coupons that needed to be dropped to some pretty special people.
I dropped them off at all 4 Fire Halls in town. It really made my day dropping them off and seeing the excitment on the firemen’s faces! They were all really excited and appreciative for the coupons!
My last stop was at Fire Hall #2, where I actually knew one of the firemen there! It was fun chatting with him and the other firemen for a little bit!
After that, I wrapped up my day and started writing this blog. Which never got finished until now…
And I can’t forget this. When I left work, there was a stunning sunset. The sky was on fire! (Take a look 😉 )
I promised the blogs were back!
Talk to ya later,
Sylvia xx
