November 24-25
****Like the last blog, it was going to bug me if I didn’t write this blog. I had so much fun this weekend that I had to share!****
Okay. Remember that time way back in September when I was supposed to hang out with ferrets at the library? And then it got cancelled? Pretty sure it was in my Bryan Adams blog.
One sec, let me go check…
Okay I’m back. It was my Bryan Adams blog.
Anyways, Saturday I got to hang out with ferrets! And I was super excited about it!
BUT!
I went to another event first. I should talk about that first.
Friday
Umm… Sylvia… Don’t you FunChase on weekends? Friday still isn’t the weekend…
Yes. Technically I do. BUT I went to a really fun event on Friday that I had to share!
I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Festival of Trees Fashion Show with one of my friends! It was so much fun to see local businesses showcase their clothes! (And the food the Civic Centre had was AMAZING! Absolutely loved it. I mean, I kept getting more and more and more)
Okay… back to FunChasing….
Saturday
I started the weekend at the 26th Annual Festival of Trees! This event isn’t a family tradition in my household, so I was really excited to get to go, and look at all the beautiful trees that were going to be on display.
My fingers still hurt from when I helped decorate our tree a few days before, but it ended up looking pretty good, so the hurt fingers were very much worth it.
I ran into Chuck Chin, got a picture of him, taking a picture (score!), and ran into a lot more people that I know. (Are we surprised??)
My favourite part when I was there was running into Mikey and his family. He had been on the news the day before and was so excited when I asked to get his picture in front of his favourite Christmas tree, and even have him talk on the radio! I had a blast doing it!
After hanging out at the Festival of Trees for a bit, I headed over to Total Pet to check out the ferrets. Saying I was excited would be a MAJOR understatement!
I got there and was instantly welcomed by ferrets. It had been awhile since I had held one, and was a little hesitant because I didn’t want to accidentally hurt them! But to my surprise their very foldable and like to be held that way!
I learned more about the Ferrets North Information and Rescue Society, and the amazing work they do to rescue ferrets!
After hanging out at Total Pet, I went to Game Changerz VR…
I HAD SO MUCH FUN HERE!!!!!
I actually stayed way later playing all the VR games they had with Vilma and Rob. It was amazing.
Okay. So, if you’re like me, and have/had no idea what VR is, it’s virtual reality and it is super cool and super fun. I didn’t know what to expect but when I got to explore what they have to offer, I was absolutely hooked on it.
Vilma was on location, so I got to hang out with her. She convinced one of our coworkers, Rob, to come check it out as well and to say we all had a blast, would be an understatement.
I went on a roller coaster, drove a race car (if you saw me struggle, I PROMISE that I don’t drive like that in real life. I just suck at driving in video games), and played this shooting game with Rob in the free roam room. I was having a blast!
When Vilma was done her remote, she joined us and we went into another free roam room and played this snowman game. We were snowmen and we had to throw snowballs and build a fort to protect us from the evil snowmen.
I couldn’t figure out how to through a snowball so I just built our fort. In the end, Rob and Vilma had a total of 10,000 points and I had….
Wait for it….
It was *so many…*
30 points! Whoot whoot!
The highlight of the whole game was when an evil snowman threw a snowman at us, Vilma would yell out “How rude!”
After that game, the three of us played the shooting game in the other free roam room and it was so much fun. After, I met a former FunChaser there! Amy was there playing a bunch of VR games and we were able to chat for a little bit.
I will definitely be back at Game Changerz VR, and I highly recommend that everyone go check it out!
Sunday
I started the day way later than usual. Why? Because I had the Civic Light Up to go to!
Before the Civic Light Up, I hung out at the Festival of Trees. I grabbed some more picture and talked to some more people. I love talking, if you haven’t noticed!
After, I met up with Doug at the Civic Light Up. He was hosting it. I got soooooo many pictures of people having a great time. The Cougars were there going on hay rides with fans, and Rowdy Cat and Fraser the Mouse were giving high fives to everyone who came up to them.
There was signing, dancing and laughter throughout the night. When I started to get a little cold, I headed into the Two Rivers Art Gallery and made a lantern. It was great because I was able to warm up just before the fireworks started!
The fireworks were amazing. I love getting pictures of them, they are so beautiful.
After the fireworks, I headed to ‘Light Up the Orchard’ at Northern Lights Estate Winery! It was short and sweet, but beautiful! It definitely got me into the holiday spirit.
If you haven’t checked that out yet, I highly recommend going! All the info you’ll need is on the Winery’s Facebook page!
Sorry for the late blog everyone, it’s been awhile! I’ve missed blogging.
See you later xx,
Sylvia, the FunChaser
