After four midterms in a week, some fun chasing was much needed! Here’s my weekend full of fun:
Saturday
My weekend started off with bagpipes. Now let me tell you, I have heard so many bagpipes in my life. Once, when we were driving in Alberta after a highland dancing competition, I had my eyes closed AND I WAS HEARING BAGPIPES!! Crazy, right? Ugh. Anyways, I don’t hate bagpipes and I really like watching highland dancing competitions, which is exactly where I was Saturday.
The Fall Highland Dancing competition was going on, and some of the best dancers in the province and country were dancing. Many of them have even competed at international competitions in… wait for it… SCOTLAND! How cool is that?? And no, I am not some crazy stalker who knows a lot about highland dancing. My mom and sister are both avid highland dancers, so they tell me everything.
I ran into some people I knew, including my one of my favourite teachers and her kids and one of my mom’s former students. She was telling me about the time my mom brought little me to work and I was crawling around the floor during her German class. Good times that I don’t even remember about. But, keep this story in mind for later in the blog!
After the highland dancing, I went over to CrossFit Northern Ice for their 5th Anniversary Celebration party! I was really excited for it.
Now, I did something that I’ve never done before… I did a giveaway! Before I headed out in the morning, I talked to J.D. about doing a giveaway and asked for his help. We decided that he was going to say a password, and the first person to tell me the password got the bag FULL of awesome swag.
I walked in the door at CrossFit Northern Ice and this lady yelled “PROTEIN POWDER!”
Congrats Kim, on winning the swag bag, that was definitely a highlight to my weekend!
I hung out at CrossFit Northern Ice for a few hours, learning about their programs, watching demo classes and talking to the staff. One of them was my old gymnastics coach from 14 years ago. She moved away, and then has come back to town and is now coaching at Northern Ice!
I learned that the people at CrossFit Northern Ice are huge community supporters, and had a BBQ at the back for the PG Humane Society. The Humane Society is just one of the many local organizations they have donated to!
After being there for a bit, I headed over to the Railway Museum for The Final Stop.
This was the family friendly version; the haunted tour was going to start later that night.
I had so much fun getting to talk to little kids and see them all dressed up. Many of them weren’t in their “official” Halloween costumes because those CANNOT be showcased to the public until Halloween. I was a kid once (not that long ago) and I know how it works; sorry mom for doing that to you…
I learned a little more about the tours that were going to be going on later that night. They seemed so good and scary. I’m going to check it out this Saturday.
The Final Stop was not my final stop of the day. After hanging out at the museum for a bit, I went to Gingerbread Toys for their 30th Anniversary Celebration.
When I was younger, Gingerbread Toys was the place to get your toys and perler beads. It brought back A LOT of memories walking through those doors.
I spoke to the workers, grabbed some pictures and then I went and did some perler beads. Are we surprised? No, we are not.
I started working on a desk name tag for work. I think it’s looking pretty good but I still need to make CHASER.
I had a lot of fun at Gingerbread Toys, and I am glad that I got to release my inner child for an hour! It was a GREAT way to end the day.
Sunday
Not going to lie, it was very cold today. But, I did not let the cold stop me from FunChasing.
I started Sunday off at Canadian Tire for a food drive. The goal for the food drive is to fill a one-ton full of non-perishable food items for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, for families in need in PG. This drive is being hosted by Don and Alecia Fitzpatrick.
I had A LOT of fun there. The young girls who were there with their parents were awesome cheerleaders and had lots of energy. While I was there, I was talking to Alicia about what teachers are still teaching at Duchess Park, because we are both alumnis.
Now, remember earlier in the blog how I mentioned about the time I crawled around my mom’s classroom a long time ago? Well, I was talking about that and Alicia all of sudden asked who my mom was… long story short, she held me when I was a baby and had my mom for French and German at DPSS. Crazy how small this world is.
I left some SunRype behind for the food drive and then headed off to my next event.
I drove across town to the CHBA Parade of Homes, at the Nechako View Subdivision.
I was really excited for this because I really like looking at houses. Like REALLY like it. Sometimes when I’m bored, I will drive around and look at different houses in town. That’s not creepy, right??
I hung out at the Hospice Dream Home for a bit. The house is beautiful and I wish I could get a ticket… next year y’all, next year! Vilma was there and I got to hang out with her for a bit. We then both decided that I should go onto the shuttle bus and check out all the houses on the parade.
Well… I missed the shuttle. BUT after some chasing, I finally caught it and hopped on.
I had a lot of fun on the shuttle. I got to look at some beautiful homes in town in literally every corner of the city. Terri made the whole experience so much fun and I am really glad that I went on the shuttle. The houses and different layouts were really cool and I’ll be honest, I can’t wait to buy my first house.
After the shuttle and the CBHA Parade of Homes, I went back up to the food drive to see how it was going. Lots of food was brought in, but my favourite was when the three girls in the cheer squad saw me and came running up and gave me a big hug. They were so cute, and definitely made my Sunday!
Thanks for the fun and busy weekend PG, see you soon 😉
