What a week. It was wild to say the least and I am now exhausted. Actually, I think exhausted is an understatement. It is midterm season up at the university and I am *a little* behind in my readings. (If any of my profs see this, yes I’m behind in YOUR class…) BUT I did not let university affect my time as FunChaser this weekend. I was focused on chasing the fun and only the fun.
Saturday
If I were to describe Saturday in a few words, it would be ‘markets everywhere.’ And seriously. All I did was go to all the different markets and fairs that were going on around town.
I started off the day at the annual Junk in the Trunk at the CN Centre. If you have no idea what the Junk in the Trunk is, it’s a garage sale on steroids. Literally. IT WAS PACKED! There were over 125 different vendors throughout the parking lot.
The highlight for me was running into this lady who had bought 2 microscope kits for $10 and was EXTREMELY excited about her find. It was awesome!
I ran into a few people that I knew and got to check out what was at all the tables. I’m glad I didn’t bring any money because if I did, I know I would have spent it all on CDs. Are we surprised? No; we are not. And if you are, you need to read my blog about Bryan Adams.
After Junk in the Trunk, I drove all the way to the Hart for the Hart Fall Market.
I was very worried that I was going to get lost driving up there. (I went up Foothills, okay??) I can count on one hand how many times I’ve been up there this year. I’ve been up there more for FunChasing than I have been for just because. Yikes…
ANYWAYS… Sylvia did not get lost and found the Hart Fall Market without any problem!
When I got there, it was already really full! The donuts were all gone way before I got there, but there were fresh veggies, clothing, jewelry and so much more for everyone to check out.
I ran into one of my favourite teachers and her two kids. It was great seeing them and we practiced smiling for her daughter’s school pictures which are on Monday!
I think her smile is all set for picture day!
I really liked the Back Forty Lifestyle Co. table. It’s a local business with clothing that represents PG perfectly. It’s awesome! This was the time when I wished I brought my money… haha!
I then made my down to the Antiques and Collectables Fair that was going on at the Roll-A-Dome.
It was crazy! There was so much stuff and a huge variety of things from dishes, to music to Hartford Whalers swag. They had everything going for them but the city… (Yes, I do realize that I am talking about a team that ended four years before my existence. Sorry for making you feel old)
While I was there, I found out that I apparently have a doppelgänger. Didn’t get to meet her because she left when I got there, so sorry to disappoint you with not having a comparison picture. But it’s kind of cool knowing that there’s someone out there that looks like me haha.
After hanging out at the Dome for a bit, I made the looooong walk over to the PG Playhouse for the PG Symphony Orchestra “It’s About Time” concert. This concert was aimed for kids to learn about counting in music.
It was A LOT of fun. I mean, I’m not a kid anymore and I felt like a kid. I had a great time taking pictures and watching the kids participate in all of the fun.
I grabbed some lunch (pizza) and then I headed to PGI Foods to check out the mural that is being painted on Thrifty Friends Boutique!
This mural is stunning. It is absolutely amazing and YOU can be a part of it by putting your handprint on it! I got the awesome opportunity to do just that. Tara and Kate have done an amazing job and I cannot wait to see the end product.
Sunday
My nerves were everywhere today. Everywhere.
I had to emcee the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure and it was my first time announcing/emceeing something that wasn’t a speed skating competition. In the end, I think it went okay!
The run was awesome. The PG Cougars came (congratulations on your big win last night!), over $23,000 were raised and almost 200 people showed up! I had a lot of fun getting to partake in this fun and inspiring event.
A huge shout out to all the volunteers that made this event possible, especially Tish and Bev!
Also, thank you Dave for giving me announcing tips; I really appreciate it 😀
I packed up and guess what I had more of… yeah… I had more pizza.
I then headed down to the track (er… stadium I mean. Masich Place Stadium) to check out the UNBC Women’s soccer game. It was their final home game of the season and it was intense! They were working hard and playing strong offence and defense against a tough Fraser Valley side.
I ran into the junior Timberwolves soccer team, who always help out at home games. They’re all so sweet and nice and were super excited to get their picture taken! I also ran into the one and only Rich Abney who proceeded to tell me interesting stories of my grandpa. It was great!
It was a busy and beautiful weekend in town, but now I need to go catch up on all of my readings…
See you next weekend everyone and don’t worry, I won’t have any pizza tomorrow! (Hopefully)
