Before I start, I need to mention this:
Remember last week how Bryan Adams kept popping up everywhere? Well, he continued to show up after, the highlight being someone dropping off a Bryan Adams book at the station for me to read. How cool is that? Thanks Chuck! I still haven’t gotten to it yet, but I will ASAP!
Now. This weekend. I was really excited for this weekend. It was jammed packed with lots of fun stuff to do…
Saturday
The day started at Magic Wash, the really cool car wash on 5th and Carney. This place is great; it keeps the FunChaser Jeep nice and clean AND Bill (the owner) is an extremely nice guy! Like seriously, this guy is awesome. Now, the reason I was there was because there was an EXTREMELY special event going on; it was their 1 year anniversary and they were celebrating with a fundraiser. All the proceeds were going towards the PG Humane Society AND the North Central Bobcats Hockey Team!
Now if you think that’s cool, it gets cooler. The hockey team was ON LOCATION washing the cars and drying the cars. I kid you not, they did a great job, and were all super enthusiastic about it too.
While I was there, I also grabbed the ‘N’s I lost while going through the car wash because yes, I am still an N driver.
After being at the car wash for an hour, I headed to Crossroads streetfest!
Now… I have something terrible to admit…
This was my first time ever going. EVER! I’ve never been to a single Crossroads event until now.
It was crazy busy, with lots of fun activities going on!
I tried some curling and axe throwing, which were both really fun. Heads up, don’t rely on me to win an axe throwing event… I’m terrible at it!
Curling was extra cool because Prince George is hosting the 2020 Women’s World Curling Championships in March! Whaaaaaaat??? I’m pretty excited, not going to lie.
I ran into a lot of people that I knew (are we surprised??) who were all enjoying the atmosphere at Crossroads and Fallfest, which was happening just down the street.
Now everyone, I have lived here my whole life; 6, 593 days to be exact. (I had to subtract 70 because I lived in Germany for ten weeks) Never in those 6,593 days have I ever seen 3rd Avenue THAT FULL! There were so many people checking out all the vendors. It was great! There was live music, smiling people and a great vibe going on. I’m really glad I didn’t bring any money because knowing me, I probably would have spent it ALL!
After Crossroads Streetfest and Fallfest, I headed up to Pine Centre Mall for the BE YOU event! This initiative is great, because its goal is to motivate and inspire girls to believe in themselves and reach for their goals in sports, careers and everyday life. Char from the River Wake Up was there, helping girls journal!
I went back to Crossroads to see what was still happening, but things were wrapping up pretty quickly. Still, lots of kids and adults were having fun with the activities!
After, I went back to Magic Wash. A guy with whom I used to skate told me “they were making bank.” They really were.
Citizens of Prince George, by washing your car on Saturday at Magic Wash, you helped raise $1000 for the Humane Society and $1000 for the Bobcats!! Woohoo!!! This money is going to go a long way for both organizations!
Sunday
The day started out great; I got to sleep in for the first time in literally forever. T’was an amazing feeling. I felt refreshed, and ready to chase some fun!
I started the day at Masich Place Stadium. The UNBC Women’s soccer team was playing! This was my first time EVER going to a UNBC soccer game (yikes). It was cold and rainy, but there were still lots of people in the stands, and the players were all super motivated to get out and play. They girls played well, but unfortunately, the game ended in a draw.
After, I headed to the Swap your Stash at the Library. There was lots of stuff for crafters to swap with! The yarn was very tempting to grab, but I need to finish my knitting project before I get any more yarn. The atmosphere in there was great, and everyone there was so excited to declutter and find new materials to use.
I then drove over to Olympus Freerunning gym for their grand opening. Located at 1733 Nicholson Street, I got lost driving there. I drove RIGHT by it. After realizing that I drove right by it, and had to turn around, I found it, no problem.
Olympus Freerunning is a Parkour gym, and looks really cool! I am definitely going to go there to run around and destress from university, because let me tell you, uni is stressful! If you’re interested in Parkour make sure to check them out on Instagram and Facebook @olympusfreerunning!
When I was driving home, I got this picture of the double rainbow that arced over Prince George. The BEST way to end a great weekend 🙂
See you next weekend everyone,
