It’s December and there isn’t any snow on the ground just yet!
Sorry if I jinxed it!
Everyone keeps telling me that this is a really warm winter! I like to think PG knew I was coming and said, “We gotta take it easy on this Vancouverite.”
Keep up the great weather PG, I’m LIVING for it!!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I would be lying if I said that I’ve sat down and listened to a choir sing before.
This was my first time…and they were AMAZING!!
My mind was completely blown by how angelic the voices of the Nove Voce Choir group sounded!
This event was really cool because it was a storytime, and a musical mashed up into one!
The set up was an old man in a rocking chair sitting by the fire, in his robe and his Dr. Seuss book in hand, while the Whos and the Grinch stood to the right, singing and dancing!
I know that this is a show put on to specifically target a younger audience…but I just couldn’t help but LOVE IT!!
Check out the cute costumes the choir singers were wearing!!!
They really do look like they came straight out of Whoville!
Tickets for this event were five dollars, which I thought was more than fair for the amazing performance you were able to get out of it!
Festival of Trees
‘Twas the second last day of the Festival of Trees!
Which meant more events, coming back to see who else bid on the tree you were eyeing and watching some really amazing performances!
I must repeat myself, I can’t even begin to explain how hard it was for me to try and get pictures of people with the Kinky Boots!!
It really broke my heart that I had so many people reject me, and my smile for a picture…
I mean, I am very affected by this…who knows if I’ll be able to recover.
EVENTUALLY these amazing ladies posed for me!
Probably after realizing how broken hearted I looked!
Anyway, I absolutely love this festival!!
It just gets me in such a Christmassy mood yenno?!
5th Annual Duchess Park Craft Fair
This was a really good fair!
They had so much stuff!!!
I met this older gentleman named John he’s been building wooden masterpieces for ONLY three years, but you’d think he’d been doing it for a lifetime when you look at his amazing work!
If you needed Christmas gifts for anyone, this place had you covered!
I really do urge people to buy their gifts locally and support local artists and creators because it is so extremely important to do that!!
In the midst of all the art…I found my favourite kind of art, the edible kind— Focaccia…which is like my most favourite bread in the whole wide world!!!
I do need to stop eating it though…I’ve gained ten pounds since I got here…and it might be because of that bread.
Million Dollar Quartet
If you haven’t got your tickets yet for this really cool, tony nominated production you have to!
They are pretty much SOLD OUT for their first two weeks which is amazing to hear, but if you haven’t bought tickets do not worry because their is still plenty of time for you to!
From what I have heard it is a really good time, the audience gets really into the music and even gets up and starts dancing to the all time rock and roll hits!
I know this isn’t the same thing, but one time I was at a concert and I stood up to dance to music and had a lady in the row behind me yelled at my friends an I to sit back down because we were “ruining” the concert by dancing…
Who goes to a concert and doesn’t dance?
Idk man, I was pretty upset that night but I was super glad to hear that the audience for this show was living it up!
Bottles for Kyra
I’ve always been big on recycling and on supporting a good cause.
This story makes my heart hurt when I hear it.
14 year old Kyra was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and is fighting the illness at the B.C Children’s Hospital for the next 6-8 months.
People in the community have put on this word of mouth fundraiser, asking people to bring their bottles and cans to the PG Return it recycling depot in order to raise money to support Kyra and her family as they cope.
My heart really does go out to this young girl and her family.
No 14 year old should have to go through something like this, Kyra, and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
See you tomorrow PG.
