I got to emcee the #cibcrunforthecure this morning and I couldn’t help but feel proud. Even though it was rainy and cold, everyone had smiles on their faces and hugs to be shared. Events like these always get publicity for dollars raised, but I think it’s bigger than that. There’s very little hard evidence showing that the money from these events makes progress. But there is evidence at every walk, every run, every fundraiser of people coming together to form a sense of belonging, appreciation and acceptance. For my grandmas who battled, and for those I don’t know, never feel alone. I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers, especially Sheri, who made this event possible. A lot of work goes into these, and they make such a huge impact.
On another note, I also got to go to the Antique Fair at the Roll-a-Dome and every time I attend these things, I find a thousand and one things I never thought I needed! Sometimes finding something old with a story is a thousand times better than something new.
What are your goals for October?
Your Funchaser,
