Dearest PG,
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: that was the busiest day yet! It just so happens that every event this weekend, we sponsored, which meant I had to attend each one. It was a weekend of fundraisers, including the 5th Annual Ride Don’t Hide, the Walk for ALS, the Walk for Juvenile Diabetes and the Spread The Sunshine Test Drive a Ford for the Ghana School Project! What an incredible list of events, hey? One of my favourite things about my job is how many fundraisers I attend, it’s incredible to see the community pull together to help others. Ride Don’t Hide was helping to break the stigmas around mental illness. There were tons of families there to participate including little kids! More experienced riders participated in the 50K ride, and afterwards, definitely looked like they were enjoying sitting down. The Walk for Diabetes had tons of things for kids to do, including painting a car! I also found it interesting how many adorable dogs were there. Was that on purpose? Or a beautiful twist of fate? Next up, was the Walk for ALS! This walk happens every year and Shirley Bond and Mayor Hall made an appearance to show their support. When I arrived, I was asked to lead the crowd in a warm up, so what did we do? The hokie pokie of course! Turns out I remembered more of it than I expected. After that, I headed over to Northern Lights Estate Winery for the free tours they’re now offering on Sundays at 1pm! It was awesome to see how, and where, all the delicious local vino is made. I got to head over to the Roll-A-Dome after to support their test drive a Ford event. For every free test drive, Ford donated $20 to a school project in Ghana! free test drives, better education and a sunny day? What better combo is there?!
Prince George may not be a huge city, but it has enough going on for a small army! Next weekend is Canada day, and it’s bound to be just as packed as this weekend. What are your plans?
Sincerely,
Your Funchaser
