Hello Prince George!
Before I get into how this weekend has been going so far, I feel that I should fill you in on a little bit of information about my past. I grew up being homeschooled, which gave me a ton of extra time for extracurricular activities. I used this time to participate in a vast variety of dance classes including ballet, irish, acro, modern and my personal favourite; musical theatre. When I was deciding on what to do as my “grown-up job” it was a toss up between musical theatre and radio, clearly I went with radio but I will always have a soft spot for singing, dancing and jazz hands. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that I was attending the 41st Annual Prince George Dance Festival this weekend! Talk about being nostalgic. I watched the solos and let me just say that Prince George is home to some incredible dancers. Performers ranged in age from under six years old, to over nineteen, so there was truly variety. I am such a fan of ballet solos, especially when they are on pointe. After the solos it was time for variety duos! Such amazing synchronicity and enthusiasm brought by all.
It takes a lot of man power, organization and dedication to pull off an event of this magnitude, especially with this many participants. If you’re interested in supporting the competition and checking out all the talent, it’s all going on until Friday. Tickets are $5.00 per session, $10.00 per day or $25.00 for the whole week and can all be purchased at the door.
