Today marked BC River’s Day, celebrating the surrounding bodies of water in our province!
There was a day’s worth of festivities at Cottonwood Island Park. The day was kicked off with opening ceremonies along the river. That a special ceremony this morning at the joining of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers.
Other activities throughout the day included arts and crafts displays, Northern Outdoor educational set ups, live music performances, as well as free smoked salmon and of course delicious bannock!
The purpose behind BC River’s Day is to bring back a good relationship with people and the water around us. This year’s event was held in partnership with REAPS, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Spruce City Wildlife Association all at the base of the Fraser/Nechako Rivers!
