BMO KidzArt Dayz took over the Two Rivers Gallery and the Canada Games Plaza this weekend!
For over 20 years BMO KidzArt Dayz has brought children of all ages to explore their creativity, and dive into their imagination! This year brought endless amounts of opportunities for kids to create many different things. By the end of the weekend, the outdoor portion of the event looked like an art museum itself.
Tents with easels, decorating goodie bags, face painting, “rocket” launchers, and live entertainment throughout.
Local acts took on the stage but also a world renowned children’s musician came to entertain. That man was Fred Penner, from Fred Penner’s Place. He performed his classics for the crowd both days of the event, with songs like itsy bitsy spider, sandwiches, and the Cat Came Back! It was a funny shift, as it was KIDZArt Dayz, but it was the parents who were giddy over the appearance from Penner. He did a brief meet and greet before his first set on Friday, and the parents were jumping, and giggly, and reminiscent in his presence.
CKPG’s own group Flying Machine was also able to perform in front of the audience at hand! A handful of kids were bobbing and jumping for the great sounds of Flying Machine. Check out their new self titled album here: https://flyingmachinepg.bandcamp.com/releases
It was great seeing the kids smiling faces as they learnt new things, and created art to show off to their family or siblings. Plenty of kids were walking around wearing the crazy hats they created. BMO KidzArt Dayz brings so many people together for such a fun day for the whole family, and I know I am not alone in saying that I am excited to see what next year has to bring!
