McDonald’s Restaurants held their annual fundraiser today, McHappy Day!
In Prince George, proceeds from this event go to the Child Development Centre to assist children with their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and communication skills!
One dollar from food and beverage items go to the CDC throughout McHappy Day. Those items include: Big Mac, Happy Meal, McMuffins, and hot or cold McCafe items.
I spent some time at the drive-thru window serving customers their early morning cup of joe, and delicious breakfast.
I then went to man the table with all the McHappy Day goods. The McSwag included pins, bracelets, tote bags, frisbees and even blue and yellow McHappy Day socks!
While at the table I was accompanied by Darleen, a McDonald’s employee with 32 years of service under her belt! As customers walked through the door she welcomed everyone of them by name and asked how their kids and family were doing. She was asked in 2010 to go to Vancouver to work at McDonald’s during the Winter Olympic Games. She also came back form vacation during the Canada Winter Games and immediately after unpacking, put on her volunteer coat and headed out to help the community!
A big thanks to Darleen and the staff at the McDonald’s at 15th and Central! Of course an even bigger thank you to the people rolling through McDonald’s and giving generously!
