Spring Cleaning was taken to the streets and parks of Prince George this weekend.
The Canfor City Wide Clean Up brought together the people of Prince George to search high and low around town for garbage littered along the streets.
The clean up was not immune to anyone, as we spotted mayor Lyn Hall with a friend cleaning up the ditches along the highway, as well as Shirley Bond with bags full of waste at the collection station at College Heights Secondary School.
We ran into families, couples, even dogs participating in the event. Driving along Massey we found CKPG news anchor Camille MacDonald along with Sarah, in our traffic department, with her husband Justin and daughter Chloe! They had about 5 bags full after travelling just a few blocks! They even found used car parts along the road. For those who remember, Chloe was the eager little four year old who willingly chooses to clean the streets while on family walks. Watch her story here!
The Canfor City Clean Up was a huge success, as the R.E.A.P.S. Facebook page stated:
“Congratulations Prince George!! April 26th Spring Clean Up event had a total of 1216 people registered, 1929 pitch in bags and 1946 gloves were handed out. A total of 13,840 kg of waste was collected from the 10 bins located around Prince George.”
Thank you Prince George for your support, and here’s looking to another successful event next year!
