Entering the Roll-A-Dome started the second time I had tried something for the first time today!
I had laced up the skates outdoors for the first time, and now I had the chance to go roller skating for the first time! Now of course I have skated, before, as well as roller bladed and other activities that involv e a device under my feet. But this of course is a little different. There are four wheels, it’s a different method of picking up speed and stopping, and it was a whole motion I had to get used to.
Today the Roll-A-Dome partnered with the Spread the Sunshine team to let patrons skate for free with the donation of non-perishable food items. It gave families to participate in the event together all for a good cause. All the proceeds are being split between The Salvation Army and the St. Vincent dePaul Society!
The coolest part of being inside the Roll-A-Dome included a few things. It was extremely retro and gave you the feeling of being back in time to when roller skating was at its peak! It reminded me of the episode from That 70’s Show when Jackie and Fez competed in a roller skate dance competition. Also a few of the roller girls were there practicing their skills. Katt Von Doom had a scrimmage earlier on in the day with her team Rated PG Rollergirls. She decided too stick around to have some fun with the public.
There were plenty of families there to have a good time, support the food drive, and the Roll-A-Dome !
