I arrived as the speeches were just getting started. Shirley Bond made a great point about bringing a friend next year to help the turn out for next year. Some of the senior planners were talking about their vision for this walk which supports Winch House. Winch House is a home away from home for Veterans, First Responders and Burn victims. They want to see a sea of red walking between the flags. The Canadian flags represent the fallen soldiers lost in Afghanistan. The walk was full of sad memories and positive ones, as everyone was united in making this walk the best one ever. A $20 donation got you your red shirt, but everyone was welcome to donate what ever they could and wear their own red shirt. A Bag piper led the way for the walkers through the flags, which was an impressive sight. To learn more about a stay at Winch House contact The BC/Yukon Command Office of The Royal Canadian Legion at 604-736-8166 or the British Columbia Professional Firefighters Association at 604-436-2053. The walk was beautiful and the concession was perfect after that walk for all those who attended and those who just happened upon it
