I fully expected today to be a beautiful sunny day, so I wasn’t really prepared for the pouring rain! It was a good morning though, there was lots of great excitement among the people waiting in line to register for Mudd Sweat and Tears. After signing my life away, I headed on back to the truck which was parked right beside the start line. Then before I knew the racers were lining up ready to get going! As they left more people started to appear for their later heights! From running back and forth between the sound booth and the truck I was really getting a workout. Unfortunately that was not the only workout to be had today. At 11 after announcing the start of the race, The River Muddy Dogs, headed off into the unknown. The first obstacle we had to tackle of the 8k course was a 10ft wall. Thankfully we have lots of strong guys on the Muddy River Dogs and The Spread the Mudshine team, so getting over wasn’t a problem. Then the worst obstacle in my opinion was next. It was a crawl through a box of gravel, under barbed wire with electric shock ropes at the end. It was a challenge, but our team did it like champs. I am happy to report that our team, made it through, and finished together like a team should! Although we did lose some articles of clothing (aka Rich Abney lost his shorts) in the mud pits, along the course. Then after a 2 and half hour run (mostly walk for Jen and I) we received our finish line medals along with beer tickets (I passed as I had to drive home) and bananas. So After the race I finished a couple SunRype juice boxes and snacks. I even shared them with the other competitors !
