Another crazy day in Funchaser land! My day started off at the Cotton Wood Island Boat launch, where two-thousand salmon fry (about 7 months old) were released into the Nechako River! They hadn’t done a release in ten years, and today the turnout was much more than expected. Hundreds of families and their children packed the boat launch with buckets containing a little fish in their hands. The fish were released, and will one day return to spawn in the same place they came from, so we haven’t seen the last of them! While talking to some of the children participating, I got to hear about some of the fish’s names. They included Bob, Fishy, Ella (Salmon-Ella) and even Green Eggs and Ham! Despite the rain, everyone had a giant smile on their face and truly came together as a community to help out the environment that we all live in.
Now to mix things up a little bit, I’m now at the 40th Annual Canadian Home Builders Association of Northern BC Home and Garden Show! There are over a hundred vendors offering everything from hot tubs to household cleaners and even hair straighteners! Admission is $8 for Adults, $6 for seniors and kids under twelve get in free. This is a great place if you’re looking to get out of the rain. I’m here until 4PM so make sure to come by and say hi! 99.3 the drive is also live on location with Rick Kelly who is here till 2PM. WE all know that homes can be a little worse for wear after a Canadian winter, so come find some ways to spruce it up!
This upcoming week I’ll be at the Telus Cup each evening handing out coupons for you to get a free Booster Juice, so make sure to grab one if you see me and Ana walking around between periods.
Sincerely,
Your FunChaser
