WHAT A DAY! Today was an early start due to the YMCA Megathon. This is an annual event held to raise money for kids in our community that otherwise wouldn’t financially be able to attend classes and programs at the Y. It’s said that 1 in 5 children within the community can’t afford to have access to basic physical education and group bonding activities that the Y has to offer, so today helped a lot of youngsters! If you haven’t been to the Y, I highly suggest you try it out. It’s a beautiful facility with a ton of equipment; most of which is brand new. They have more cardio machines than you’d ever need, a separate weight area, and not to mention the many classes they offer as a part of a membership. Today I participated in Cycle-Fit, Zumba and Yoga. I feel that this is an appropriate time to explain how much I love Zumba. It’s the perfect cardio workout! You work up a crazy sweat while dancing like you’re out on the town with your friends! Talk about a feel good activity! I always find that Zumba instructors are the most motivating people, always encouraging you to shake what your mama gave ya, and feel the music! Anyways, the point is, if you haven’t Zumba-d, GO ZUMBA!
Literally immediately after the Megathon, while I was still out of breath, was the CKPG TV Gone Fishing Giveaway at the Treasure Cove Casino Show Lounge. I drove over there as fast as legally possible to help set up the event. This give away was BIG. We were giving away a trip for three days to the coast of Vancouver Island for a guided fishing trip! Not to mention so cash to help you get there, and a ton of gift cards! We quizzed our contestants with classic TV trivia and I was impressed by everyone’s knowledge, as someone who grew up sans-cable, I definitely had no idea what was going on in the answer department. Congratulations to our winner, Les. Feel free to send me a postcard!
Tomorrow’s agenda is equally busy. I’m starting my day at the Hart Pioneer’s Center Pancake Breakfast, then heading to the Free Yoga 101 workshop at Chinook Yoga, then heading to the active living market at Pine Center mall. Phewf! These weekends wear me out, that’s for sure.
Don’t forget, if you have an event and you want some publicity, TELL ME! Fill out the submission form on the events page and it’ll be posted to not only the FunChaser site, but also The River and The Drive.
