The UNBC Timberwolves were back in action today as the women’s soccer team took on The University of Alberta Pandas for the second of their double header this weekend.
In a battle that saw the girls drop a 3-0 defeat yesterday, they wanted some payback in the form of a victory.
Through the first half, the offensive efforts were controlled by the U of A but saw great opportunities thrown on by the T-Wolves. After 45 minutes the score was kept at a draw thanks to the great defensive play by UNBC.
It was a battle throughout the game, but it didn’t take long for the Pandas to ripple the mesh as they found the scoreboard just ten minutes into the second half thanks to a strike from Daines on the Albertan squad,
The Timberwolves kept their name in the game until the bitter end, but that one goal was all it took for Alberta to squeak passed with a 1-0 win and a two win weekend.
The women’s Timberwolves squad is back at it again this Friday against Thompson Rivers at home, followed by a game on Sunday at noon for Senior’s Day as they take on the University of British Columbia Okanagan.
