Today saw the 4th Annual Canadian Mental Health Association’s Ride Don’t Hide.
Hundreds of cyclists of several different skill levels rode to join the movement and fight the stigma behind mental illness. One in five people will be diagnosed with a form of mental illness, so plenty of people at this ride have been affected in some way or another.
The riders did a warm up routine with Live and Lift before they set off for their rides. The Canadian Mental Health Association did have participants in the ride. One of which included Devon, who works with the CMHA team and is my roommate (fun fact of the day). He was the ride leader for the 20 km route!
All of the money raised from this event will be staying in Prince George to support programs for anyone who is struggling from mental illness. This years ride had over 200 cyclists, and believe it or not registration is already available for those wanting to participate next year! http://ridedonthide.com/bc/
