The Investors Group held their annual Alzheimer’s Walk Sunday, May 1st.
Debra Moffat, one of the coordinators of the event alongside her husband, was so happy with the amazing amount of support. She spoke very passionately on the event because she is dedicated to bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. This event is an amazing way to do it, while including the whole family!
The event started with games and activities to get the blood flowing before the walk. There were stations set up for basketball, hoola-hooping, a parachute game for the kids, as well as a scrabble table.
After all the participants showed up and registered, then the ceremonies got underway. Speeches were given by the coordinators, sponsors and representatives from the Alzheimer Society on the event. Along wiht the speeches include some kind words and stories from Shirley Bond.
After the speeches were finished, one of the Northern Sport Centre employees ran a group stretch to get everyone’s energy back in full spirits, then it was onto the walk!
Everyone was dancing and singing along to the music playing in the gymnasium of the Northern Sport Centre. There were plenty of families, from super young kids all the way to sets of grandparents. One of my favourite parts of the walk was the team shirts. There was a team with green shirts, with the purple ribbon and lettering saying Grandads Army, absolutely amazing!
All the groups walking had smiles on their faces the entire time and the event went extremely well!
